Thank you Fiona, I’m grateful for your feedback, as I am for Bees. If I think about the plight of bees for too long, I start to feel a bit desperate for humanity and planet earth. I wonder things like, how can we sit by and allow this to happen. But I ask that of myself about many things.

Sad state of our earth. My three year old grandson and I set out to find insects in his yard, footpath and neighbours fences.

We found a few ants. No lizards, spiders, bees, beetles, bugs and not one bee. Zilch. They have all gone.

Oh that is just too sad Gabrielle. Those nice tidy gardens with no weeds have generally not arrived at that state naturally. On a positive note, you are his grandma, so I’m sure you’ll be planting some good seeds of knowledge to serve him and this world well.

That’s a very interesting argument you have there. Our bees have zero pesticides on the land here, but we only cover one mile. They will forage for up to three, so as much as we try, they may be exposed further afield.

On a more positive note, my hives were quite peaceful this afternoon, so maybe they have calmed down a little. Time will tell.
